Ingredients For Action: Understanding And Responding To Food Poverty

2017 Listing 2

Food poverty is affecting an increasing proportion of the UK population. Food is important to our physical survival, to our sense of dignity and identity, and as a part of family and community relationships and participation. To understand food poverty and its causes we need to move beyond food directly to recognise the bigger picture that the issue exists within. Churches have already been vital in responding to food poverty. We advocate three principles for continuing this response: an approach that is relational, aiming for dignity and participation, and actively seeking justice.
