Wayfinder
Supporting people to live well and leave homelessness behind.
Wayfinder is a volunteer-led programme supporting people affected by homelessness by building long-term relationships and connection.
This programme is founded in recognition of the importance of relationships in breaking the cycle of homelessness.
Over the past 7 years, CUF has partnered with local community organisations and churches to support people as they find a route out of homelessness. We have found that social isolation is a huge barrier to full recovery, leaving many people alone as they experience the ups and downs of sustaining a home.
Wayfinder responds to these learnings and focuses on building more effective and sustainable relationships with people in need – particularly those in new tenancies.
Through Wayfinder, local volunteers will be equipped through specific training to provide one-to-one support for people after a period of homelessness. This support could include practical guidance or assistance, being available as a listening ear, and coming alongside those participating in the programme.
Our partners in Manchester: Greater Together Manchester
Matching people who are moving into a new tenancy with a volunteer who can support them through that process and help them settle into a new community
Our partners in Leicester: The Bridge, Homelessness to Hope
The Bridge believes in long-lasting change. Where the people they work with are treated as individuals with specific needs and not just a problem to be passed through another system.
Working together
Wayfinder is implemented by Church Urban Fund through the Together Network and The Bridge, and funded by the Benefact Trust. We will continue to work with donors, funders and supporters to help raise funds and support people in need.
