The Big Pancake Party
We made a flipping brilliant difference!
It was estimated that 3 million children were at risk of going hungry during the school summer holidays last year without school meals. This is a shocking statistic, but thanks to hundreds of people who eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday every year in aid of our work, we are tackling food poverty.
The Big Pancake Party is a national movement on Shrove Tuesday each year, raising funds to support the work of the Church Urban Fund's Together Network which operates all over the country supporting projects tackling issues such as food poverty such as holiday-hunger’ schemes and community fridges. The idea is simple; get together with friends or family, eat some pancakes, have a great time and raise funds for those in need.
The Big Pancake Party is over for this year and we together we raised enough to feed thousands of children through our holiday hunger schemes. Flipping brilliant!
If you’d like to take part in the fun next year, then check back closer to the time when we will start letting you know how to join the Party in 2021.
If you’d like to donate to the Big Pancake Party and help us tackle food poverty, it’s not too late. Just £3 can provide lunch for a child over summer as free school meals disappear. £9 can provide an emergency food parcel for a family for one day. Each £25 raised can provide a slow cooker so that families can make simple and nutritious meals with the food they receive from food banks. Together we can make a difference!
