Payroll Giving, or Give As You Earn (GAYE)
A simple and tax-free way for you and other employees to donate regularly and support CUF
Payroll Giving allows a business to support charities that you and other employees can nominate.
It is the most tax efficient way for you to support CUF. Payroll giving donations are taken after National Insurance but before tax. Roughly, every £1 you donate will only cost you 80p (or 60p if you are in a higher tax bracket), and the government will pay the rest. This means it costs you less, and saves us on the administration of claiming Gift Aid on the donations.
You will find more information on the Gov.uk website.
Your employer need to set up a Payroll Giving Scheme with an HMRC approved payroll giving agency, and then you and other employees can register to donate.
When processing payroll, your finance or payroll team will take the donation directly from your gross salary and send it to your chosen payroll giving agency. The agency will then distribute the funds to the selected charities, along with a list of the participating employees and the amount contributed during that period.
