Cost of living crisis

As prices rise, you can help mobilise communities of support and connect people with the help that’s available.

Together, we’re facing a tipping point. We are seeing everything rise around us – the price of food and fuel, debt, homelessness, and loneliness. Some of us are worried about paying our bills or where our next meal will come from. Others are facing unsustainable debt or homelessness as a real risk for the first time in their lives.

Here at CUF, we are working alongside local churches and community groups who are responding to and speaking out for people in need. They provide safe spaces for people to access warmth, food, shelter, support services, and, perhaps most importantly, conversation and care.

Those already experiencing poverty, debt or loneliness are the most vulnerable to economic crises and shocks.

Will you join us by making a donation?

It could help us equip more local churches and community groups to identify, respond to and speak out for people in need.

A volunteer in Manchester:

“We’ve supported a lot of single parents during the school holidays when they can’t access school meals. We provide food as well as activities, toys and books for the children to use at home, and activities on site. We can also help them to access fuel vouchers during holidays in the winter so that they can have the heating on when the children are at home.”

A church leader in Liverpool:

“We run holiday clubs with local churches. The project has helped to feed, entertain and occupy a significant number of children and young people in our community over the summer. It has taken a huge pressure off families in terms of sourcing food. It has also given families who need a break some rest, by giving children and young people a place to be throughout the summer to be entertained.”

A family in Plymouth:

“Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the food larder and receive food packages. I’m always grateful for the food. The fresh veggies are so good as we peel and chop as a family and we all get to eat the same thing at the same time. I know how much my children like it when I’m eating with them.”
