Independent Commission on Community & Cohesion: How churches can engage with the National Conversation

National Conversations webinar masthead Mar 26

The Independent Commission on Community and Cohesion brings together leading voices from across the UK to explore what’s driving disconnection and division — and what needs to change to help build stronger, more connected communities.

Its work combines two core strands: a UK-wide national conversation to hear directly from the public, and a programme of commissioner meetings to explore key challenges and shape practical responses.

In April 2026, Bishop Rob Wickham hosted a webinar with Professor Luke Bretherton and Victoria Verbi, both representing the Independent Commission on Community and Cohesion, to discuss how churches can get involved with contributing to the work of the commission.

Watch the webinar recording to find out:

  • What is the Commission and what are its aims.
  • How and why your church can get involved with the National Conversations.

Get involved

There are two practical ways churches can help over the next four months:

  • Encourage people to complete a short, mobile‑friendly survey about their experiences of community life.
  • Host a group discussion to bring people together to talk about community and belonging.
